Gershwin’s Boscawen escapes from the animation of New York City captured through his freshman album, “Ode to Abraham,” and rather, retreats to analog solitude. Recorded to 8-track tape by Gershwin in a wooded New Hampshire cabin, Boscawen embodies the rudimental and often imperfect process of collaboration. The music on Boscawen features compositions by Gershwin, Mason, and Jensen, and was written and recorded during a week-long residency at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute.
